Esan Central is a Local Government Areaof Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Irrua.
It has an area of 253 km² and a population of 105,310 at the 2006 census.Esan central includes towns such as Uneah [Ibore, Ugbalo & Atuagbo], Ugbegun, Ewu, Opoji,Uwesan and several others. Former Vice President, Rear Admiral Augustus Aikhomo, is from Irrua and Professor Friday Okonofua is from Ewu.
